Jordel “Jordy” Rihl

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, Mrs. Jordel Van Deventer Rihl, 80, wife of Mr. Robert “Bob” H. Rihl.

Jordy was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she graduated from Olney High School. She attended Augusta College where she received her M. Ed and Educational Specialist degrees in early childhood education. Jordy worked as an educator for over 50 years in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and in Richmond County, Georgia. From a young age Jordy loved ballet, she started dancing at the early age of 4 and her last performance on stage was in 1999 at 58 years of age. Jordy was well known for her baking, but especially for her Christmas cookies. She was a devoted member at First Presbyterian Church of Augusta and currently at Christ Church Presbyterian and worked with the children’s ministries at both churches.

Family members in addition to her husband include her daughter: Laura Lee Joiner (Brad) and grandchildren: Allison Joiner, Brad Joiner, Jr. and Catherine Joiner.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Christ Church Presbyterian with Rev. Robert Hendrick officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
