Evans, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at his residence, Joseph C. Hopkins, Jr., 81, husband of Margaret Elizabeth Cadle Hopkins.
Mr. Hopkins was a lifelong resident of the Augusta area. He was CEO of Hop’s Properties, Inc. (Hop’s Plaza), was a retired engineer from E. I. Dupont (SRP) and was an amateur Ham radio operator (W4WFZ) for more than 60 years. He served in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Hopkins was the son of the late Joseph C. Hopkins, Sr. and W. Thelma Hopkins. He was preceded in death by a sister.
Family members include his wife Margaret Cadle Hopkins, of Evans; daughter; Gwen Klym (Tim) of Evans, son; Michael Hopkins (Kimy) of Evans, sister; Ann Hopkins Gradous, grandchildren; Benjamin McPherson (Melissa), Christian Hopkins, Katie Klym, step-grandchildren; Lenna Russell, Mariel Mendez, Ben Russell (Josie), a special niece; Angela Appleton, two nephews; Robert Gradous (Kim) and Tim Gradous (Laura)
Graveside services will be held Friday, January 22, 2010 at 11:00A.M. at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Lynda Allen officiating.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at Martinez United Methodist Church, 3614 Washington Road, Martinez, GA 30907 with Rev. Perry Shelfer. The family will receive friends immediately following services.
