Joseph Elbert Cook
Augusta, GA- Joseph Elbert Cook, age 90, died Tuesday morning, July 9, 2013 at University Hospital.
Mr. Cook was born in February 1923 in Hamilton, OH to Elbert Rice and Nancy Pennington Cook. He was a World War II Navy Veteran with service in the Seabees.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mrs. Bernice Daniel Cook of Martinez, GA, who he married on April 19, 1947 in Cincinnati, OH.
Mr. Cook is also survived by four sons: Jerry Douglas Cook of Benicia, CA; Danny Joe Cook (Rita) of Martinez, GA, Timothy A. Cook of Honolulu, Hawaii and Kevin L. Cook (Rebecca) of Commerce, GA; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; and sister Gladys Garrett of Lebanon, Ohio. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
A graveside service with Naval Military Honors will be held Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Westover Memorial Park beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Larry Gilpin officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that if you would like to make a donation please send it to the Wounded Warriors Project at PO Box 31358, Augusta, GA 30903.
The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
