Augusta, GA – Mr. Joseph Francis Mele passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Doctors Hospital.
Mr. Mele was born in Troy, NY. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.He received an accounting degree from Russell Sage College in Troy, New York. He received a Masters Degree from Bradley University in Peoria, Il.. Mr. Mele was the retired Vice President of Business & Finance at Augusta State University. He was a member of the Rotary Club, Augusta Country Club, Forest Hills Golf Club. He was past president of Boys and Girls Club Inc. He was an avid golfer and tennis player.
Family members include sons: Richard Mele, Christopher Mele; daughter: Kathleen Sarah Sancken Mele; granddaughter: Emily Mele; and brother: Bob Mele and a longtime companion and friend: Helga Paul.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Fr. Michael Roverse officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior from 12:00 p.m. until to the service at 1:00 p.m.
