Joseph Brown

Augusta, GA –Mr. Joseph H. Brown Jr., 85, husband of Mrs. Jeanne Brown, entered into rest Friday, September 7, 2012 at his residence with his wife, family members, and his caregiver, Corinthian Washington, by his side.

Mr. Brown was a native of Sandersville, GA. Before entering the Marines he attended North Georgia College and completed his studies at Mercer University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He served as a US Marine in WWII and Korea. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta where he served as a deacon, on the benevolence committee and was a member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class. He was a Boy Scout leader both in Macon and Augusta and received the Silver Beaver Award. He spent his career in the wholesale plumbing, heating and air conditioning business as a sales and design specialist. His hobbies were reading, genealogy, Big Band and Jazz Music.

Family members in addition to his wife include daughter: Julie Lynn Brown; sons: David Alan Brown and wife Carmen, Carl Edward Brown, Steven Holmes Brown and wife Toni; and grandchildren: Jonathan Phillip Brown, Austin Louis Brown, Allison Brown Renew, Kallie Carlisle Brown, Tyler Joseph Brown, Caroline Elizabeth Brown.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Augusta with Dr. Greg DeLoach and Dr. Rodger Murchison officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jonathan, Austin and Tyler Brown, Raburn Neal, Coleman Hood, Mark Thomas, Joe Renew and Mike Cooper. Honorary pallbearers will be the Crusaders Sunday School Class.
