Augusta, GA – Mr. Joseph Paul Cone, Jr. 64, beloved husband of Mrs. Paula Cone lost his courageous battle to pancreatic cancer, Friday, October 23, 2015.

Mr. Cone was born in Walterboro, SC but was currently living in Martinez. He was in the lumber business for his entire life and was the owner/operator of Thomasville Lumber Company. During his lifetime he was also the owner/operator of re-manufacturing companies in Waycross, Blackshear and Quitman, GA. He was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a great listener, storyteller and enjoyed making people laugh.

Family members in addition to his wife include his mother: Betty Cone Hamlett; children: Joann Rock (Matt), Joseph “Joey” Randall Cone (Katrina); grandchildren: Justin Tyler Leabo, Kaylan Paula Cone, Kimberly Nicole Cone and Joshua Wayne Cone; sisters: Jan Cone Pye (Pete) and Jane Cone Moore (Haskell); brothers-in-law: John M. Beach (Susette) and Jim R. Beach (Terry); and nieces and nephews: Tammy, Scott, Dusty, Nikki, Lynn, Janna, Chris, Michael, Matt, Josh and their families.

A funeral service will be today, Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 2:30 P.M. in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Greg Porterfield officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society at 2607 Commons Blvd. Augusta, GA 30909.
