Mr. Joseph P. “Joe” Williamson
Martinez, Ga. – Mr. Joseph P. “Joe” Williamson, 85, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011, husband of Mrs. Virginia Taylor Williamson.
Mr. Williamson was a native of Bryan County, GA and resided in Martinez. He was Head Master for Windsor Academy in Macon, GA. Mr. Williamson served as Assistant Superintendent in Houston County, GA and principal in several Georgia counties. He served in the Navy in WWII. Mr. Williamson came to the Augusta area in 1991 and joined First Baptist Church of Augusta the same year.
Family members include, sons, Charles K. Williamson (Tammy) of Martinez and James W. Williamson (Leah) of Cumming, GA, sister, Hilda Eason of Statesboro, GA, 2 grandchildren, Weston Williamson of Martinez and Lindsay Williamson of Martinez.
A Memorial service will be held Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Dr. Rodger Murchison and Dr. Jacob Malone officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Golden Harvest Food Bank, 3310 Commerce Drive, Augusta, GA 30909-4417 or to First Baptist Church Benevolent Fund, 3500 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30909.
The family will receive friends Thursday after the service at the funeral home.
