Joyce B. Beck

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Monday, August 22, 2022, Mrs. Joyce B. "Mama" Beck, 89, loving wife of the late Mr. James G. Beck, Jr. Joyce was born at home with her twin brother Gene and grew up in the Aiken area. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She worked for a short time at Southern Bell until she became a mom. She was active in many civic organizations including President of the Ladies POAG, President of the League of Democratic Women Voters and Vice President of the Berry Children’s Center. Joyce had a passion for flowers and decorating. Joyce was a wonderful cook, and nothing brought her more joy than preparing meals for her family and friends. Family members include her children: James G. Beck III (Angie), Emily S. Beck, John L. Beck (Patricia); Joice B. McCurry (Dan) Grandchildren: Sadie B. Beck, Georgia K. Beck, Ira C. Stillwell, Jack Beck (Anna Mae), Alton D. McCurry, Abigail Beck McCurry, Aurelia Grace Beck, Audrey Jaymes McCurry, Taylor Zange, Parker Herndon, Zach Herndon, Cam Herndon, Hayes Herndon; great grandchildren: Magnolia Moon & Ava Lee; loving brother Leonard Browder; and many nieces and nephews that were so dear to her. She was like a mother to many. In addition to her husband, Joyce is preceded in death by her daughter: Nancy A. Stillwell; her twin brother: Billy Gene Browder. A graveside service will be held Sunday, August 28, 2022, at 3:00 P.M. at Montmorenci Baptist Church Cemetery in Aiken, SC with The Reverend William M. Brock officiating.
