Joyce R. Grimaud

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Monday, January 1, 2024, Mrs. Joyce Rennison Grimaud, 82, loving wife of 39 years to the late Mr. David E. Grimaud.

Joyce was born in Augusta, Georgia. She graduated from the Academy of Richmond County in 1959 and Barrett School of Nursing-University Hospital in 1962.  Joyce took pride in her nursing career of over 51 years. She retired from the VA Hospital after 26 years. Joyce taught in the medical lab at the Medical College of Georgia, in 2007 she was recognized as the MCG Outstanding Contributor, 2009 was awarded the MCG Dean’s Award of Appreciation and in 2012 in Joyce’s honor the Joyce R. Grimaud Cardiovascular Nursing Scholarship was established.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. McWhorter officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers please contribute to the Joyce R. Grimaud Cardiovascular Nursing Scholarship (Available for BSN). This scholarship was established by MCG School of Nursing alumna, Dr. Jeannette Andrews, in honor of her aunt, Mrs. Joyce Grimaud, who inspired her to become a nurse. Mrs. Grimaud practiced nursing for 40 years in a variety of roles, including 26 years at the Augusta VA Hospital as a cardiovascular nurse. Mrs. Grimaud epitomizes both the “art” and “science” of nursing and was a highly recognized patient advocate. She had been an inspirational mentor to many nurses, nursing students, and other health professionals across this state. This recognizes a BSN Senior who desires to become a cardiovascular nurse.
