Judith Wiggins Banks

Augusta GA. - Mrs. Judith Wiggins “Judy” Banks, 82, of 557 Fury’s Ferry Road, entered into eternal rest Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Edgefield County Hospital.
The Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Wednesday at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA. A Celebration of her life will follow at 11:00 am, with Pastor Bill Hilley officiating. A private family burial will be at Westover Memorial Park in Augusta, GA. Pallbearers will be Dustin Banks, Hunter Matthews, Gray Matthews, John Banks, Mathew Banks, Dylan Lyons, and Jimmy Johnson lll.
Mrs. Banks was born March 23, 1940, in Augusta, GA to Robert and Mildred Wiggins. She graduated from Richmond Academy and then attended The University of Tennessee where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She married the love of her life, James Doyle Banks, “Jimmy” on June 11, 1960. The joy of her life were their 3 children, Bo, Chris, and Jenny. Judy went back to school at the age of 30 and obtained a nursing degree from Augusta College. She absolutely loved her job as a registered nurse at Edgefield County Hospital for 46 years. Judy was a member of Grace Baptist Church for many years and was involved in various areas of service throughout her time there. Judy also taught countless Bible studies over the years and went on annual medical mission trips. She was a true pray warrior in all aspects of her life and for others.
Judy is Proceeded in death by her beloved parents, Robert Carter Wiggins, and Mildred Brinson Wiggins, as well as her late husband James Doyle Banks “Jimmy”. She was truly proud to be his wife. Survivors include her sons, Lee Carter “Bo” Banks (Diann), of Augusta; James Christopher “Chris” Banks (Laurie), of Atlanta and daughter, Jennifer Banks “Jenny” Matthews (Keith), of Augusta: nine grandchildren; Courtney Banks Johnson, Dustin Carter Banks, Taylor Banks Lyons, Elizabeth Catherine Banks, John Christopher Banks, Matthew Sean Banks, Hunter Banks Matthews, James Grayson “Gray” Matthews, Anna Grace Brinson Matthews; and four great grandchildren.
