Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, April 21, 2013, Mr. Julian Campbell Hargrove, 89, husband of Margaret Steed Hargrove.

Mr. Hargrove was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He attended grade school and Richmond Academy. He entered in the US Army in 1942 and participated in D-Day, June 6, 1944. He was discharged from the Army in 1945.

He attended the University of Georgia and Washington University Insurance School. He was Post Commander of Louis L. Battey American Legion and was 10th District Commander of the American Legion. He was an active member in Ambucs, Summerville Exchange Club, and was Chairman of the Soap Box Derby in the 50’s.

Mr. Hargrove entered into business with his brother, starting Hargrove Printing Company. He was an Insurance Underwriter for 45 years.

Family members in addition to his wife include sons: the late Julian Campbell Hargrove, Jr.; Barry Craig Hargrove of Texas; Christopher Scot Hargrove (Pam) of Augusta; M. Stuart Bonner, M.D. (Connie) of North Carolina; daughter: Terry Bonner Heath (Gene) of North Augusta; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at St. Mark United Methodist Church on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at 3:00 P.M., with Rev. Charles Broome officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 2367 Washington Rd., Augusta, GA 30904.

The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
