June Mary Winkler

Evans, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, June Mary Winkler, 83, wife of 62 years to Col. John Charles Winkler.

June was born in New York, NY to the late Andrew and Jennie Sopko and raised in Stony Point, NY. She was a proud and supportive Army wife. June always established a welcoming and loving home during John’s 27 year military career, including 10 stateside moves and overseas in the Netherlands. She was a Master Gardener and was also known for her extensive collection of blue and white collectibles. June was a dental assistant and also volunteered with the Red Cross in many locations. 

Family members in addition to her husband include her daughter, Jill Dromsky and husband Dr. Joe Dromsky of Augusta, GA; and daughter-in-law, Tina Winkler of Fredericksburg, VA. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much joy. June was preceded in death by her son, the late John Charles Winkler, II. 

June will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
