Alpharetta, GA- Katherine Louise Calamas Wagy departed this life on November 17, 2015 comfortably at home in Alpharetta, GA in the company of her loving husband of 45 years, James. Katherine is survived by her son Jason of Smyrna, GA, and her son, Jonathan, who lives in Arlington, VA with her daughter-in-law, Julanne, and grandchildren, Everett and Jacqueline. She is also survived by her mother, Mary Calamas, brother, Frank Calamas, and sister-in-law, Bobby, all of Augusta, GA. Her father, Dennis Calamas, predeceased her in 2014.
Katherine was born in Augusta, GA on October 21, 1945, graduated from North Augusta High School and Winthrop College. She enjoyed a successful 26-year career in information technology, first at the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC, followed by private sector employment in Pittsburgh, Chicago, Orlando, Atlanta, and finally New York City prior to retirement in Atlanta in 2000. Katherine was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, dedicated bridge player and faithful member of the Greek Orthodox Church throughout her life. A viewing is scheduled at the Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Rd, Roswell, GA on Friday, November 20 between 6 and 9 p.m. The funeral service is scheduled at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Augusta at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 23. Burial immediately follow the funeral service in Magnolia Cemetery, Augusta.
Katherine will be sorely missed by family and a broad range of friends after a lifetime of personal and professional success, exceeded only as a superb companion to her husband and devoted mother and yiayia.
