Evans, GA – Kathleen O’Meara Marshall, age 72, affectionately referred to as Mom, Kath, Kathy, and Happy, peacefully departed this life on July 22, 2022 enveloped by the love of family members.
In addition to her family, friends and relatives, Kathy dearly loved get-togethers with family and friends, swimming, Edisto Beach, gardening, nature, dogs (especially black labs), napping, history, adventures, exploring, traveling and cooking. She could whip up a meal from anything in the fridge. As the matriarch of her family, she made it a point to stay in touch and keep all her family connected. Kathy “adopted” many of her children’s friends and she never met a stranger. She had a wonderful blend of spirituality, caring, hospitality, independence, intelligence, and common sense with a bit of Irish stubbornness mixed in. She lived her life in full and dealt with her passing on her own terms. Kathy will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, James J. and Patricia M. O’Meara, Jr.; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Dr. Lou Marshall. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Joseph Richard (Rick) Marshall, Sr.; her children, Joseph Richard Marshall, Jr. (Robbie); Stephanie M. Hackett (William); and Jonathan Ryan Marshall (Tracie), her grandchildren: Jackson Marshall, Caroline Marshall, Gabby Muro and Cecelia Muro. She is also survived by her brothers: Jim O’Meara (Terry); Mike O’Meara (Jan); Tim O’Meara; Sean O’Meara (Kathy); Kevin O’Meara (Mary); and her sisters: Geraldine O’Meara (Chip); Christine O’Meara; Linda O. Griffin (Charlie); and Mary Lee Talbert (Norman); and sister-in-law Louise (LouLou) Avaritt (Warren); along with her many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friend, Theresa (Pug) Myers, and her precious dog Sushi, who was her constant companion.
The family would like to celebrate her life with those who knew her on Thursday, July 28, 2022, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Road, Augusta, GA 30907.
