Kathleen Payne

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Monday, October 10, 2022, Kathleen W. Payne, 91, wife of Mr. Robert “Bobby” Payne.

Family members, in addition to her husband Bobby, include her son: Mike Payne (Susie); daughters: Kathy Adams (Ed), Bobbie Kay Sconyers (Randy); ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; sisters: Dorothy Coble of Greensboro, NC and Sylvia Crimm of Winston Salem, NC. Kathleen was preceded in death by her baby son Daryl Eugene Payne.

Kathleen graduated from Trinity High School in Trinity, NC in 1949, where she played on the girls basketball team for 4 years and was Homecoming Queen during her senior year. She attended High Point College in High Point, NC from 1949 through 1952, graduating with a bachelor’s degree and playing on the basketball team. Kathleen then taught school for several years before the family relocated to Augusta, GA in 1972. She was a faithful member of Abilene Baptist Church in Augusta, GA. Kathleen and Bobby recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Bill Harrell officiating. Interment will be in Thomasville, North Carolina at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 1:00 P.M.
