Katie McDonald
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Monday, December 9, 2013 at Kentwood Nursing Home, Mrs. Katie Lee Cothren McDonald, wife of the late Joseph F. McDonald.
Katie (Cothren) McDonald was born in Alma, Georgia to William “Bill” Cothren and Minnie Taylor. She was later adopted by her uncle and aunt, Cliff and Addie Taylor. Katie grew up in Alma, Georgia where she met the love of her life, Joseph F. McDonald. After they were married, Katie took on the most important job in the world, raising four wonderful children. She and her family eventually settled in Augusta, Georgia. Katie was well known for her cooking, her recipes were sought after by many family and friends. She was famous for her red velvet cake and Thanksgiving dressing.
She is survived by her daughters; June Griswell, Cherryln Walker, Kathy McDonald; son, Joe McDonald, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
The graveside service will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Eddie Bradford officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
