Keil Dorn Alderson, Jr., 88, went home to the Lord on September 6, 2022, following a brief illness. A native of Bluefield, West Virginia, he was born on October 20, 1933, to Keil D. Alderson, Sr., and his wife, Nannie Rae. He received a degree in art from Ohio State University, and subsequently pursued a career in advertising. After working in Cincinnati and Nashville, he moved to Augusta in the early 1960’s, and worked at J.B. White’s until retirement.
An accomplished artist, he was also a long-time member of the Augusta Choral Society. He was a founding member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, having previously been active at the former Greene St. Presbyterian Church. He served as both an elder and a deacon, as well as Sunday School teacher, and participated in mission trips to Mexico. He was a very faithful volunteer with GAP Ministries of Augusta, Inc for more than forty years. He was also a faithful and exuberant member of the church choir, joyfully playing the tambourine when moved by the Spirit.
Keil never met a stranger, and his enthusiasm for life was infectious. He always believed the best of others, and his deepest desire was for all to know the Lord Jesus Christ. He is survived by his sister, Zelda Browning, nephews Randy Robinette and Michael Robinette, and a niece, Pam Baum, and numerous life-long friends. A service celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, September 25th, at 3pm at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Ed Rees officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church or GAP Ministries of Augusta, Inc.
