Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday morning, March 9, 2011 at University Hospital, Mr. Kenneth E. Thompson, 82, beloved husband of Anne Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was a native of Morris, IL, but resided in Augusta after his military service at Fort Gordon. He retired from E.I. DuPont after 35 years of service. He was a charter member of Advent Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing and later coaching softball for Advent. For a number of years he coached Little League Baseball for Richmond County. Mr. Thompson enjoyed playing golf at “the Patch”, was a member of the North Augusta Country Club and he scored for 25 years for the Masters. In recent years, he was the primary caretaker for his loving wife, Anne.

Family members in addition to his wife include his son, Mike Thompson and his wife Beverly; daughters: Kathy Tyler and her husband Larry, Lee Quinn and her husband Marty; five grandchildren: Jeff (Julie) Tyler, Abby Tyler, Taylor and Sarah Thompson, Kaitlyn Quinn; one great-grandson, Will Tyler; and one surviving brother, Harold Thompson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Advent Lutheran Church with Pastor Matthew S. Lash officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
