Kenneth E. Upton

Kenneth Earl Upton, 88, of Evans, GA, passed away on December 28, 2023. 

Kenneth was born in Bath, NC to Claude Thomas and Thelma Upton. He grew up with 6 siblings: Claude, Viola, Elizabeth, Lorina, Janice, and Gary.  As a teen, he loved playing sports, especially football and baseball.  At 17, he joined the US Army where he would serve for 22 years; achieving the rank of First Sergeant.  Upon retiring from the military in 1977, he entered the HVAC business until his retirement in 2000.  

He first met his future wife, Charlotte Nicholson, in high school. They fell in love and were married in 1956.  While stationed in Germany they added two children to their family, Charlotte (Nicki) and Gary. Being a loving and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Kenneth.  While in the military, he always made sure to balance the requirements of duty to the needs of his family.  Kenneth received numerous military commendations, including the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in Vietnam.

His loving wife of 58 years, Charlotte preceded Kenneth in passing.  Kenneth is survived by children Nicki Peacock (Gary) and Gary Upton (Chantey); grandchildren Lee Peacock (Amanda), Charlotte Seepe (Michael), Rebecca Gastin (Jeremy), Ellie Bruni, and John Bruni; great grandchildren Kenneth Peacock, Louis Peacock, Finn Seepe, and Charles Seepe. 

A Celebration of Life service and visitation will be held at Brandon Wilde in The Georgia Room, Evans, GA, on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. His family will be present to welcome loved ones.
