L. Mae Byrum
Gibson, GA – On Thursday, Augusta 20, 2015, Our Angel was called home to be with her Lord.
Mrs. Byrum was born in Tarant City, AL, but always called Augusta, GA her home. She was preceded in death by her mother Rosetta Armstrong, father John McGowan, 11 brothers and 1 sister. She was twice widowed by husbands Emmett Angelo Loudis and John Marshall Byrum.
Mrs. Byrum reached the level of Master Artisan in the field of Cosmetology. She owned Salon 500 in Downtown Augusta and retired at the age of 70 from J.B. Whites Salon in Regency Mall.
Mae was a Christian of strong faith and enjoyed sharing her time and talent by volunteering at the Uptown VA Hospital, Nursing Homes, and Church Committees.
Family members include son: Emmett A Loudis, Jr. of Gibson, GA; daughters: Mary Byrum Cioffi (Joseph) of Grovetown and Theresa Phoenix of Florida; and niece: Mavis Weems and her daughter Susan (Joe).
A funeral service will be Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Elizabeth Ackerman and Fr. Michael Roverse officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. in Gibson, GA.
