Augusta, GA – Went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, Mr. Larry Arthur Bivins, 86, husband of Mrs. Sue Helen McLemore Bivins, was born and reared in Middle Georgia. He lived most of his adult life in Augusta.
Mr. Bivins served honorably in the U.S. Marines. He married his high school sweetheart on August 15, 1958. Mr. and Mrs. Bivins received Christ Jesus their Lord and Redeemer in 1960.
Mr. and Mrs. Bivins were members of Warren Baptist Church where Mr. Bivins taught the Autry/Bivins Life Group. They enjoyed a long-term affiliation with The Moody Church in Chicago, IL.
Mr. Bivins was a graduate of Columbia Bible College (known now as Columbia International University) in 1966 and from the Graduate School of the University of South Carolina in 1975. He served in education twenty-five years as an educator and administrator in public, private and Christian schools in South Carolina and Georgia and with the Department of Veterans Affairs. After retiring from education, he was actively involved in the family real estate and land development business in the two-state area. Mr. Bivins lived to serve and glorify Jesus, his Redeemer and Lord. He was devoted to his beloved wife and best friend and to their three children and his “son-in-love” John M. Price IV.
Mr. Bivins is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years; his daughter: Susan Renee Bivins Price and husband John M. Price IV of Augusta, GA; son: Larry Carlton Bivins of Augusta, GA; grandchildren: Jennifer Renee Bivins and Larry Brent Bivins (Yna); seven great grandchildren and his sister: Sylvia L. Pierce of Macon, GA. He was preceded in death by his father: John Carlton Bivins; mother: Gladys Virginia Bivins; son: Jonathan Len Bivins (1964–2015) and his brothers: John Carlton Bivins, William Thomas Bivins and Phillip Abner Bivins.
A graveside service will be held Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Westover Memorial Park with Dr. Mark Sterling officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Moody Church or Moody Media, 1635 N. LaSalle Drive, Chicago, IL 60614 or to Curtis Baptist Church, 1348 Broad St, Augusta, GA 30901.
