Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, May 12, 2011, Mr. Larry Joe Brunty, 81, husband of Mrs. Norma Brunty.
Mr. Brunty was a native of Huntington, WV and lived in Augusta the past 45 years. He retired after serving 22 years with Military Police in the U.S. Army. He served 1 tour in Korea, 2 tours in Vietnam, and was stationed in 6 other places around the world. Mr. Brunty retired as VA Security with 20 years of service and later worked at Tudor Dry Cleaners. He liked collecting old cars. Mr. Brunty loved his family and was a family man.
Family members in addition to his wife include sons: Larry J. Brunty, Jr., Kurt Brunty and wife Jennifer, both of Augusta; daughters: Mary Jo Schmazel and husband John of Pitman, NJ, Roxanna Kincaid and husband John of Lebanon, IN, Sylvia Ann Dodson and husband Steven, Betty Young and husband Bob of Anderson, SC; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Billy Harold Brunty.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Pastor Ken Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
