North Augusta, SC – Entered into rest Sunday, June 16, 2013, Mrs. Laura Frances Landrum Palmer, 86, wife of the late Lawrence E. “Shorty” Palmer.

Family members include children: Cheryl Gray and husband Garry, Emily Boyles and husband Dooley, Ann Nelson, Larry Palmer and Kim, Bunny Newman and husband Freeman, Susan Greger and husband Ron, Troy Palmer and wife Donna; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Benjamin Boyles and John Garrett Quattlebaum.

Mrs. Palmer was born in Warren County, Georgia, the youngest child of Roy and Zeevee Landrum. She moved to Richmond County in 1945 and joined Woodlawn United Methodist Church where she met the love of her life, Lawrence E. Palmer.

After raising her seven children she returned to college and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature from Augusta College.

Woodlawn UMC played an important role in her life as did her volunteer work at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at noon at Woodlawn United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim McCollough officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and the Honorary pallbearers will be the University Hospital Volunteer Board.

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation to the staff of Sterling House for their love and care for the past four years.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tuttle-Newton Home, 2196 Central Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
