LAGRANGE, GA.- Mr. Lawton W. Croft, 85, of LaGrange, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Croft was born October 12, 1924 in Bamberg, South Carolina; son of the late Lawton W. Sr. and Ann Hutto Croft. He was a member of West Acres Baptist Church in Martinez, Georgia and had retired as store manager after 32 years of service with Otasco in Augusta.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda (Wayne) Pickard of Martinez and Candy (Don) Ellison of LaGrange; five grandchildren and their spouses, Daryl (Susan) Pickard of Thomson, Debbie (Scott) Hammond of Martinez, Karen (Paul) Pinkston of Amarillo, TX, Keith (Stephanie) Ellison and Brian Ellison of LaGrange; nine great-grandchildren and a spouse, Clay Hammond and Wes Hammond of Martinez, Ashley (Patrick) Lunsford of Thomson, Joshua Pinkston, Lindsay Pinkston and Brooklynne Pinkston, all of Amarillo, TX, Neal Ellison, Averett Ellison and Austen Ellison, all of LaGrange; and one great-great-grandson, Zane Hammond of Martinez. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Miriam Claire Croft.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet and Son Chapel with Rev. Larry Harmon officiating. Interment will be in Westover Memorial Park in Augusta.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, October 21, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484.
