Lee Motlow

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Mr. Lee Williamson Motlow, 63, loving husband of Beverly J. Motlow. Preceded in death by his father, Roy Motlow; mother, Margaret Sumerau Motlow, and uncle, Bob Sumerau. Other family members include his brother: Parks Motlow (Jan); nieces: Merry Glenne Piccolino, Eve Mooney (Bill), Kristen Welch (Tony); sisters-in law: Nikki Holt (Mike), Carol Layton (Doug); cousins: Robert Cable (Cathy), Emily Lirette (Mike), Mariah Sellers (Bo), Kim Cable, Margaret Beasley (Billy), Mary Leigh Pearson (Greg) and Robert L. Sumerau IV. His great nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart: Wills, Drennan, Maddi, Tripp, Isabella, and Holland.

Lee was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He attended Aiken Preparatory School and graduated from Butler High School in 1979. He was the former owner of Kissingbower Package and was co-owner of Mot’s Barbeque. Lee loved hunting, fishing, and traveling. A beloved week in Augusta, Masters Week, was his favorite time of year. He spent many days at Shellman Bluff with his friends and Boykin Spaniels. Lee never met a stranger, loved life, and was always a “glass half full” kind of guy.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday, September 1st at 11:00 am at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Porterfield officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Louis Kirschner, Ray Hodge, Dylan Russell, Fred Broome, Greg Bumgarner, and Mike Whisenant. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Hair, Vic Weaver, Greg Howard, Kasey Boutwell, Aaron Horton, Ken Fraser, and Craig Cooper.

Many thanks to the medical team at Augusta University Health for their compassion and care.
