AUGUSTA, GA. – Entered into rest Friday, October 2, 2009, Mrs. Pasqualina (Lena) Tufano Tedesco, 92, wife of the late John Tedesco. She was born in Derby, Connecticut, on February 28, 1917. She was the daughter of Pasquale Tufano and Francesca Maione Altorelli Tufano. She married John Tedesco and together they owned and operated Valley Package Store in Derby, CT until their retirement in the early 1970’s. They were active members of the Son’s of Italy. Following the death of her husband she moved to Augusta in 1979. She was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, The Italian American Club of the CSRA, a past member of the Augusta Woman’s Club and Business & Professional Women. She was an active volunteer with the Senior Citizen Luncheons at St. Mary on the Hill, Catholic Social Services, and St. Joseph Hospice.

Family members include her sons: John Peter Tedesco and wife Irene of Spring Hill, FL, Francis Joseph Tedesco, M.D. and wife Luann of Augusta; grandchildren: Donna-Jean Tedesco Plante and husband Harvey, John Peter Tedesco, Jr. and wife Liza Liss, Christopher Sean Tedesco and wife Tina, and Jennifer Tedsco Ellis and husband Tripp; great-grandchildren: Justin Harvey Plante, Arianna Rae Plante, Luca Olive Tedesco, Joshua Calloway ”Cal” Ellis, Joseph Hastings ”Hayes” Ellis, Michael Henry Tedesco, Dominick Christopher Tedesco and Julia O’Keefe Tedesco; and special niece and nephew: Josephine Ippolito Mandela and Michael Salvatore Ippolito and wife Elaine as well as many other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Tedesco was predeceased by her parents, her husband John, her sons Dominick Pasquale Tedesco and Michael Tedesco, a grandson Michael Tedesco, a sister Carmella Ippolito Paupini, and a brother Andrew Altorelli.

The funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Father Gerald Ragan officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment will be in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby, CT on Friday, October 9. 2009.
