Leona (Lee) Brumley, 88 was called home to her Lord and Savior on April 14, 2013 at the home of her daughter in Ellijay, Georgia.
She was born into very humble circumstances in rural Kentucky but through the grace of God she was able to live a beautiful life blessed with a loving family and cherished friends. She had resided in the Augusta area since 1964.
Lee married Coolidge (Butch) Brumley, the love of her life, in 1946 in El Paso, Texas while both were serving in the U. S. Army at Fort Bliss. They went on to have a very successful career in the Army, he as a soldier, and she as a soldier's wife. That life took them to many places in America and to Germany in 1961. Once settled in Augusta they bought their first home and planted roots for good.
Lee and Butch were active in the B.P.O.E. Lee was active in A.B.W.A, Christian Women's Club and in later years the Red Hatters of Wymberly.
Lee loved to play cards. She had a lovely group of women with whom she played cards, some for over many decades. When she moved to live in Ellijay her card buddies would make sure they could get together from time to time to play.
Lee is survived by her children: Judith (Dennis) Baker, Larry D. Brumley, and Nancy Brumley Gessling. Grandchildren: Deanna Baker, Dr. Melissa Gessling, and David Brumley. Also 2 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Coolidge Anderson Brumley.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet with Rev. Benjamin Wylds officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Following the graveside service, the family invites friends to join them at the Wimberly Club House.
