Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, February 8, 2016, Mrs. Letitia McNair Peel, 79, wife of Mr. Robert D. Peel, Sr.
Mrs. Peel was a native of Stellaville, GA. She graduated from University Hospital’s Barrett School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital for over 30 years. Mrs. Peel was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to host gatherings for her family and friends. Mrs. Peel enjoyed traveling and gardening but especially watching her son and grandsons playing basketball and baseball.
Family members in addition to her husband include son: Robert D. Peel, Jr and wife Olivia; grandsons: Robert Davis Peel, III and Brian Judson Peel; sister: Ann Sheffield of DeBary, FL; and brother: Lewis McNair and wife Ann of Huntsville, AL. Mrs. Peel was preceded in death by her parents James Elijah and Claira Dye McNair; brothers: Jutson McNair, William “Bo” McNair, M.D., Rufus McNair, Ray McNair and Tom McNair; and sisters: Helen Georgeson and Nell Arrington.
A funeral service will be Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Todd Sturgell officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Steven McNair, George McNair, Bill DeLoach, Bruce Thurmond, Woodie Melton and Johnny Mims. Honorary pallbearers will be Martinez-Evans Little League Intermediate 2015 Georgia State Champion Southeast Regional Runner-Up All-Star Team.
