Lillian Cullum
Augusta, GA - Mrs. Lillian Love Cullum died on April 26, 2015. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Curtis Cullum, Sr., her oldest daughter, Lillian Love Cullum and two brothers, William Barton Love and Howard Graham Love. Survivors include her children, Natalie Cullum Garzilli and her husband, Tom, of Seneca, South Carolina, James Curtis Cullum, Jr. and his wife, Beth, Christopher Albert Cullum, and Katherine Anne Cullum all of Augusta. Additional survivors include six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was born in Augusta, Georgia on May 7, 1927 and is the daughter of Albion Moody and William Barton Love. As a child, she moved to Columbia, South Carolina and graduated from Columbia High School. She attended St. Mary’s College in Raleigh, North Carolina and then graduated in 1948 from the University of South Carolina in Columbia with degrees in English and Art. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. After getting married, Mrs. Cullum returned to Augusta with her husband, raised five children and worked for many years at the family business, Cullum’s, Inc.
Proudly serving her community, Lillian worked with the Augusta Junior League, Lynndale School and Training Center, March of Dimes, United Way, Augusta Symphony Guild, Augusta Ballet Guild, and Augusta Heritage Club. She was a member of the Augusta Pinnacle Club, Augusta Country Club, Forest Hills Racquet Club, Sand Hills Garden Club, and Camellia Garden Club. She loved gardening, art in all its forms, bridge, tennis and her friends. Her passion for life was contagious, and she was the eternal optimist. She was a lover of people, a lover of words and a knower of things. Her children were her pride and joy.
Mrs. Cullum was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church.
The funeral Mass will be Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Lou Lindsey celebrant. Interment will be in Westover Memorial Park.
