Mrs. Lillian K. Smoak
Owner/Operator of Smoak's Bakery
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Doctors Hospital, Mrs. Lillian Claude Koger Smoak, 86, wife of the late Daniel B. Smoak.
"Miss Lillian" as most knew her, spent many hard-working years helping her husband, Dan, run Smoak's Bakery & Catering Inc. She worked tirelessly, long after many others her age had retired. While Dan was the one more publicly associated with the bakery, Lillian's work and devotion were far less known. She was content in knowing that she did what needed to be done and preferred to remain behind the scenes. Prior to taking on the family business she spent many years traveling with Dan throughout his career in the U.S. Air Force. She was always devotedly by his side.
Mrs. Smoak is survived by her son: David M. "Pete" Smoak; two sisters: May Belle Olden of Phoenix, Arizona and Eleanor Guy of Augusta and granddaughters, Danielle (Justin) Westfall currently serving in our military in Guam, Lisa (Shawn) Folk of Atlanta, and Ryanne Smoak of Augusta, and great-grandchildren, Richard, Patrick, and Alyssa Westfall of Guam. Other close family members & friends include her sister-in-law, Jean (Tommy) Adkins of Atlanta, Jim & Terrie Adkins of Atlanta, Nita Graham of Augusta and many nieces and nephews.
Lillian would especially want you to know she leaves behind her dear friend, Audrey Hawn, whose constant companionship and care made her last years much happier and more comfortable. Audrey's years of devotion to the Smoak family is beyond worldly commendation.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. John Pinson officiating.
