Lillian Wilkie
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, Mrs. Lillian Phillips Wilkie, 91, loving wife of the late Mr. Robert L. Wilkie.
Family members in addition to her husband include her daughter: Angela Phillips Allen (Charles); grandchildren: Charles Michael O’Byrne, Lauren Louise Azevedo (Justin) and Haley Howerton (Neil); great grandchildren: Samantha Lillian Azevedo, Mason Robert Azevedo, Phillip Jackson Howerton, and Kirby Ann Howerton; and sister: Marian Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents: Winston and Georgia Campbell; brother: Winston Eugene Campbell; sisters: Helen Smith, Florence Longerbeam, Cornelia Wilkie and her first husband: Charles O. Phillips. Later in life, she enjoyed the company of her beloved friends Catherine Garnett and Mike Hitchler, and made everlasting bonds with many of the “Claiborne” family.
Lillian was born in McCormick, South Carolina, but lived in the Augusta area for the majority of her life. She was an Insurance Broker and Office Manager for Gulf Life Insurance Company. Lillian was a member of Trinity on the Hill Church and the Trinity Adult Couples and Singles class.
Although her given name was Lillian, those who loved her the most called her “Memom.” Memom was full of wit, laughter, and mischief and brightened the life of all that knew her.
The funeral service will be held Friday, July 7, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Roy McVeigh officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Mike Bell, Hugh Wilkie, Neil Howerton, Justin Azevedo, Mike Smith, and Greg Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be the Trinity Adult Couples and Singles class.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the “Love Unlimited” program at Trinity on the Hill Church, 1330 Monte Sano Ave, Augusta, GA 30904.
