Martinez, GA – Entered into rest on Monday June 28, 2021 at her residence. Mrs. Linda Marie Severson (65), wife of Col. Richard Willis “Dick” Severson (US Army Ret).
Linda was a native of Leominster, MA. Growing up, she lived in Waterbury, CT and Baltimore, MD. In one of her first jobs, she worked at Fort Dietrick in MD where she met her husband, Dick Severson. As an army wife, Linda traveled and lived in many places. Before taking on full-time responsibilities as a mother, she served as secretary to the Chief Medical Director of OB-GYN at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco and worked as a Patient Representative for a hospital while living in Nurnberg, Germany. Linda and Dick eventually settled in Augusta, where she acquired several hobbies. Linda enjoyed gardening, becoming a Master Gardener and a member of the Augusta Garden Club. Linda was a fabulous chef and her eye for detail was reflected in her cuisine as well as her home decorating. She would create epic Christmas experiences and unforgettable family holidays that will forever be talked about amongst loved ones. She was able to express her creative nature through one of her most cherished passions, knitting. This led to her making life-long friends within her knitting circle, that were like sisters to her. Linda enjoyed spending time with her knitting group and creating beautiful blankets and caps for newborns at the local hospitals. Linda was a world traveler and had the opportunity to travel with her husband to a multitude of various countries. She especially enjoyed taking river cruises which enabled her to explore iconic cities and quaint villages. Above all, Linda was an incredible mom and always put her children first. She excelled at every aspect of being the perfect mother. She devoted her spare time to volunteering, for any needed position, at the schools that her children attended. Her family was her priority, and her actions reflected her unconditional love and support for them.
Family members in addition to her husband include her son: Bradley Severson and Kristin Gustafson; daughter: Ashley Atkinson and husband Graham; grandchildren: William and Hudson Atkinson; and siblings: Patti Muller, Robyn Morris, David Bates, Steven Bates and Stuart Bates.
