Martinez, GA –Entered into rest Monday, June 29, 2009, at University Hospital, Mrs. Lois Patrick Callaway, 79, wife of the late David Callaway.

Mrs. Callaway was a native of Emanuel County, and lived the last 55 years in Augusta. She was a 1952 graduate of the Barrett School of Nursing. She worked 38 years for the V.A. Hospital as a nurse and supervisor. After retirement she continued working for 10 years at Gracewood State School and Hospital. Mrs. Callaway was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and nurse. She was a member of the Donis Graven Sunday School class at Abilene Baptist Church.

Family members include her daughters: Lynda Adams and husband Julian of Harlem, Alison Reed and husband Joel of Evans; grandchildren: Carter Adams, Emily Adams, Jessica Reed, Brittany Reed; sisters: Evelyn Sikes and husband Edward of Augusta, Sybil Patterson and husband Gordon of Twin City, GA; brother: Edd Patrick and wife Evelyn of Swainsboro and brother-in-law: Howard Callaway of Appling.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Bill Harrell officiating. Pallbearers will be Eddie Sikes, Clay Patrick, Carl Reed, Karson Reed, Lloyd Luckey and Cole Luckey. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
