Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, August 7, 2018, Mr. Lonnie Bargeron, Jr., 89, loving husband of 65 years to his true love Mrs. Patricia Anne Goolsby Bargeron.
Lonnie was born and raised in Augusta. He was a member of Marks Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and Director, A church deacon and a layman spreading God’s word. Lonnie was also a member of the George Walton Lodge for over 50 years, a special deputy for Richmond County Sheriff department for 14 years, a private investigator, bail bondsman, and a member of the GA Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He retired from Sears as service manager after 38 years of service. Lonnie was a wonderful loving father and kind understanding Papa.
Family members, in addition to his wife include his children: Debbie (Stan) Scritchfield, Lisa Borseth, Kim (Ken) Culbreth, Lonnie “Jamie” Bargeron, III, William “Matt” (Denise) Bargeron, and John “Khris” (Janie) Bargeron; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren; sister: Beulah Mae Adams; dear friend: Earl Holloway and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lonnie Bargeron, Sr. and Rosa Lee Sellars Bargeron; grandchildren: Blake Khristian Bargeron and Reynold Wayne Borseth, Jr., and a sister: Nona Lee Abbott.
A funeral service will be Saturday, August 11, 2018, 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. Michael L. Davenport officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Austin Bargeron, Lonnie “Lee” Bargeron, IV, Stan “Trey” Scritchfield, Chris “Nem” McCorkle, Ryan Townsend and Ross Scott.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Southeast Hospice, Shannon Rucker, Wendy Andrews and the staff at Kentwood Rehabilitation.
