Mary Lorena Holland Threatt was born in Tattnall County, Georgia on August 25, 1937, and returned to the Lord Jesus Christ from Alpharetta, Georgia on April 26, 2025.
In December 1955, she married Enman Threatt and began a life together in Augusta while maintaining both of their roots in Tattnall County. They made a home in Augusta and raised two children and were married for over fifty-six years.
She attended Hillview School and Collins High School in Tattnall County, Georgia. After graduating as salutatorian in 1955, she set off to Augusta, Georga, to attend business school. She joined the Georgia Railroad Bank and Trust in 1955 and worked for it and its successors. In 1969, she left Georgia Railroad to work with her husband operating Enman’s Pure/ Enman’s Union 76 and E&E Electric between 1969 and 1977. She then returned to the bank until retiring January 2000.
Lorena was an active member of the First Primitive Baptist Church of Augusta serving at various times as church treasurer and president of the Bertha McGowan Ladies’ Circle.
She was a member of the Georgia Railroad Bank and Trust Quarter Century Club and the TOPS Club GA #429 (Augusta), serving in various officer roles in both organizations.
Lorena was preceded in death by her husband, Enman Threatt, her parents, Loren Holland and Mary Jane Bowen Holland, her sisters, Annie Belle Holland Kicklighter and Rose Ella Holland Sikes, her brother, Bobby Jackson Holland, and her brothers-in-law, Ryloh Kicklighter and Robert Sikes.
Lorena is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Victor Threatt and Hilary Threatt, and her daughter and son-in-law, Jane Threatt Garvin and Mark Garvin. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Joseph (Joe) Threatt and his wife Jamie Threatt, Diane Threatt Eckel and her husband Chris Eckel, and Rachel Threatt Miller and her husband Matt Miller. She is also survived by her four great-grandchildren Emma Claire Threatt, Charlotte Threatt, Luke Miller, and Madeline (Maddie) Eckel.
Lorena is also survived by her sister-in-law Linda Holland. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews and cousins.
Mama is now peacefully with the Lord Jesus Christ.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
