Lorin Brown Butler
November 16, 1912 - December 9, 2009
Augusta, GA – Gone home to be with the Lord on December 9, 2009. Mr. Lorin Brown Butler, 97, husband of Genenia Crosby Butler of Evans, GA.
At the age of 10 Lorin was placed in Bethesda Home for Boys. While he was there he learned to box, worked on the farm and learned to swim in the nearby river. During the depression he was a surveyor in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He retired from Prudential Insurance Company in Savannah after more than 20 years as an award winning insurance agent.
Family members in addition to his loving wife include two beloved sons; Lorin Daniel (Sharon) of Evans, GA and James Dennis (Kimberly) of Birmingham, AL; four adored granddaughters, Cheryl Skinner (Matthew) of Evans, Elizabeth Butler of Tampa, FL, Ashley (Bryan) Watson of Charleston, SC, and Olivia Butler of Birmingham, AL, and two great grandchildren in whom he took great delight, Maya and Gage Skinner.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Abbey Cemetery in Savannah, GA., 1600 Wheaton Street, Savannah, GA 31404.
