Lorin Daniel Butler, 74, of Evans, Georgia went to be with the Lord on July 20, 2022, with his beloved wife of 50 years, Sharon, at his side.
Dan was born on June 13, 1948, to Lorin B. Butler and Genenia Marion Butler in Savannah, Georgia. He graduated from Jenkins High School in 1966 and then attended Armstrong State College and graduated with a B.A. in English in 1970. In August of 1972, Dan and Sharon married and moved to Macon, GA where Dan continued his pursuit of a law degree and graduated from Mercer University with his J.D. in 1973. In 1974 he was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia, The U.S. District Court, Southern District of Georgia, and the Georgia Supreme Court.
After graduating from law school, he was employed as an Assistant District Attorney in Savannah, GA. Eventually he opened a private practice specializing in family law with an emphasis on national and international custody and adoption. He was a member of The Family Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

He was a devoted Christian and an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church. In 2013, he reluctantly retired from the practice of law.
