Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, April 3, 2017, Mrs. Virginia Lorraine Cox, 89, loving wife to Mr. A. Millard Cox, Jr.
Mrs. Cox was a native of Augusta and was a graduate of Tubman Girls School. She worked at J.B. White’s and Cullum’s Department Stores for many years. She spent most of her time as a homemaker and caregiver to her ill son. Mrs. Cox enjoyed cooking.
Family members, in addition to her husband, include her daughter: Kris Hanna of Watkinsville, GA; and granddaughters: Dr. Wendy Hanna of Salt Lake City, UT and Sarah Hanna of Plano, TX, and canine companion, Gizmo. She is preceded in death by her parents, Broadus and Annie Mae Burton, and son, Harold Cox.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Alan Faulkner officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Dr. Phillip Catalano, John Bogle, Jay Brown, Harold Galloway, Terry Meeks and Ben Jackson.
The family would like to thank Jackie Holman, Lawanda Kirk, Faye Ringgold, Doretha Williams for their compassionate care.
