Lou Ann Coley

Martinez, GA – Mrs. Lou Ann Coley, 85, wife of the late Mr. Jimmie Lee Coley, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

Mrs. Coley was a native of North Bend, Washington but made Martinez her home, living in the same house for over 50 years. Lou Ann met Jim when he was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington and so began her lifelong commitment to him and the army. Lou Ann was a devoted army wife for over 20 years and thoroughly enjoyed and praised her time traveling alongside Jim. She also retired from the Columbia County school system after 25 years. Lou Ann took pride in her family and extended her family beyond blood lines as she was inclusive and accepting of all. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who loving called her Grandma, G, Grandma Lou Lou, and Loula Bell. She enjoyed and was talented in crochet, spreading her love and talents through countless baby blankets, scarfs, and hats. She enjoyed keeping up with her family and friends through social media where she could be found “yelling” through all caps in her comments and posts. Lou Ann was a very fine woman and taught her family to always put others before self, giving in every way. She will be greatly remembered for her calm, sweet, loving, and kind personality. She was her family’s center, highly admired, and will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.

Family members include her daughters: Mari Lynn Coley, Patti Rae Pitts and husband Jimmy; son: David A. Coley; daughter-in-law: Janice Coley; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; brother: John Shook and wife Sheila; and sister: Mary Schmidt. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Coley was preceded in death by her son James Anthony Coley and daughter-in-law Deanna Coley.
