AUGUSTA, Ga. – Entered into rest Tuesday, September 8, 2009, Mr. Louis Bates Folley, Jr., 62, husband of Martha Nelson Folley.
Mr. Folley was a native of Sumter, SC, but has been a resident of Augusta for 37 years. He was a 1969 graduate of The Citadel. Mr. Folley served in the U.S. Air Force until moving to Augusta in 1973. He began working as the fixed operations manager at Sunbelt Nissan and later became co-owner. He was a member of many civic organizations and an avid sportsman. Mr. Folley was a deacon of Christ Church, Presbyterian and a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Family members in addition to his wife include his daughters: Paige Folley Christian and her husband Joe David of Savannah, Victoria Folley Hulsebus and her husband Tyson Ashby of Augusta; son: Todd Bates Folley and wife Lindsey Cunningham of Augusta; grandchildren: Joe David Christian IV, May Bates Christian; brother: John Arthur Folley and wife Cindy Amerson of Mt. Pleasant, SC and nephew: John Arthur Folley, Jr.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at Christ Church, Presbyterian, with Dr. Duncan Rankin officiating. Pallbearers will be deacons of Christ Church. Interment will follow at 4:00 P.M. Saturday in the Sumter Cemetery, in Sumter, SC, with Rev. Gordon Reed officiating.
Memorials may be made to Christ Church, Presbyterian, 4201 Southern Pines Dr., Evans, GA 30809.
