Louise Hammett
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, June 22, 2016, Mrs. Louise Salter Hammett, 96, loving wife of the late Gordon S. Hammett.
Born September 1, 1919, Mrs. Hammett was a native of Tifton, GA and resident of Augusta. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother; was known as Granny and Nanny. Louise loved being outside and gardening. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta for many years and volunteered with the F.B.C. Food Pantry.
Family members include her children: Betty H. Crews (Lee), Helen H. Price (Charlie), James Hammett (Nancy) and Ann H. Lamar (Craig); grandchildren: Brannon Lamar, Derrick Lamar, Steve Doolittle, Kim P. Fullen, Jason Price, Brian Hammett and Melissa H. Futrell; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Friday, June 24, 2016, at 10:00 A.M. at Stapleton Baptist Church Cemetery, 360 Harvey Street, Stapleton, Ga, 30823, with Rev. Larry Harmon officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Golden Harvest Food Bank, 3310 Commerce Drive, Augusta, GA, 30909 or FBC Augusta Food Pantry, 3500 Walton Way Ext, Augusta, GA 30909.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
