Louise Pund Miller

Augusta, GA – Louise Miller (or “Weesa” as she was affectionately known to many) went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. She died at home with immediate family and loving caregivers by her side. 

Louise was born and raised in Augusta, attended the Academy of Richmond County, and graduated from UGA in 1960. Post graduation, she traveled the world with Pan Am as a flight attendant before being swept off her feet by a handsome, locally stationed Army Ranger named Peter Miller. Upon marriage, Peter and Louise moved to his (frigid-cold, Yankee) hometown of Millbrook, NY, where they built a successful farm and garden supply business and focused on raising their two children, Adelaide and Peter Jr. Louise was a loving wife of 61 years to Peter. She was a fiercely devoted mother, a relentless worker, and an invaluable partner in the family business – keeping the books straight and collecting debts, always employing her sweet southern charm; the more money owed, the thicker her drawl. More than anything, Louise had a servant's heart and was passionate about helping others. She especially cared for those on the fringe and extended a generosity of spirit to folks that others tended to overlook. She was a tireless volunteer, choir member, church worker, fundraiser, cook, chauffeur, Young Life supporter, swim mom, theater mom, dance and baseball mom, Scout mom… Her support knew no bounds. After raising their children and selling the family business, Peter and Louise retired to Augusta, where many friends and family welcomed her return. She was *finally* back home, and Peter (thankfully) took to the South like a duck to water. The last 24 years of her life were marked by wonderful times spent with her beloved cousins and “Grow Up Group”, deep involvement with Trinity on the Hill, the church of her youth, and time spent with her kids and grandkids.

Louise is survived by her husband, Peter, her brother, Dr. Ernest Pund of La Jolla CA, her children Adelaide Vaughn (Ned) and Peter G. Miller Jr. (Jennifer); as well as nine grandchildren; Hannah, Miller, Keenan, James and Charlotte Vaughn; and Heath, Aidan, Silas and Neva Miller. She will be profoundly missed. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 11 AM at Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Hearn and Rev. Roy McVeigh officiating. The burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10 AM until the time of the service in the gathering area at Trinity on the Hill and all are invited to gather at the family home after the burial.
