Louise Markwalter Wright

Mrs. Louise Markwalter Wright, age 94, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 20, 2024. 

Louise was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many. As a caring and generous person, her door was always open, and she never missed an opportunity to show kindness towards all. Born on Lombardy Court in Augusta on November 22, 1930, Louise was the seventh of eight children of Agnes Sheehan and Charles Victor Markwalter. The loving wife of the late Doctor Claude-Starr Wright (1979), she was a faithful and a life-long member of Saint Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, and a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph’s girl’s school. 

She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Starr Wright, Mary and Bill Love, Hank and Marianna Wright, Caroline and John Whitten, and Jim and Melanie Wright; her eleven grandchildren: Katherine Petra Love and Patrick Petra, Jack Love and fiancé Kalle Paragioudakis, Winston Wright, Michael and Laura Wright, Allison Wright, Starr Whitten, Julia Whitten, James and Sabrina Wright, Erin Wright, Patrick Wright, and John Wright and two great-grandchildren Alex and Charlie Petra. She is also survived by her brother Jack Markwalter and his wife Marcelene, and many nieces and nephews.

The Rosary and visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22 at 4:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors. The Funeral Mass will be held on December 23 at 9:15 A.M. at Saint Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Ross celebrant. The burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
