Lt. Col. B. Joseph Dromsky, Jr
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, October 2, 2016, Lt. Col. B. Joseph Dromsky, Jr. (USAF Ret) 82, husband to Mrs. Dolly Dromsky.
Lt. Col. Dromsky was a native of Moscow, PA then spent many years in the Augusta area. He was commissioned into the United States Air Force in 1954 then retired as Lt. Col. in 1975. While serving in the Air Force, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, and served two tours in the Vietnam War. He served in many capacities including Flight Instructor, Flight Safety Officer and Missile Combat Crew Commander. Lt. Col. Dromsky graduated from the University of Nebraska, Omaha with a Degree in Business Administration in 1968 then earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 1978. He was a member of Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity. Dromsky was the Assistant Administrator of the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home when he retired in 1998 after 17 years on staff. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where he served as the church President and a member of the choir. Lt. Col. Dromsky was a member of the Sertoma Club and advocate for United Way campaigns. In retirement he enjoyed playing golf at area courses at every opportunity.
Family members in addition to his wife include daughters: Laurie Ninke and husband John of Hartselle, AL and Lynette Rayle and husband Joseph of Cortland, NY, sons: Joseph Dromsky and wife Jill of Martinez and David Dromsky and wife Ann of Kathleen, GA; grandchildren: Joshua Ninke, Lauren Hildreth and husband Aaron, Zachary Dromsky, Andrew Dromsky, Samuel Dromsky, Carolynn Dromsky and Nathan Rayle.
A funeral service will be Friday, October 7, 2016, 1:00 P.M. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Schwartz officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 402 Aumond Road, Augusta, GA 30909 or to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd, Augusta, GA 30909.
The family will receive friends before the service at the church beginning at 12:00 noon until the time of service.
