Augusta, GA – Entered into rest November 17, 2013, Roy Joseph Barrios, 80, husband of Lorena Holland Barrios.
A native of Thibodaux, LA, he served an exemplary career in the United States Army for 28 years.
Other family members include daughters: Danielle A. Barrios of Gracewood, GA, Denise A. Barrios (Tony) of Commerce, GA; son: David A. Barrios (Susan) of Augusta, GA; sister: Jeanne B. Zerangue (Ralph) of Thibodaux, LA; brother: Phillip Barrios of Thibodaux, LA; step-children: Melanie Crowell (Robert) of Darien, GA, Greg Holland of Nashville, TN; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by the mother of his children: Elma Herbert Barrios; his twin son and daughter: Mark and Angela Barrios; and siblings: A.J. Barrios (Bernice), Marion B. Robicheax (E.J.), Aliece Picou (J.D.), and nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Fr. Tom Murphy celebrant.
A mass and visitation will be held in Thibodeaux on Friday, November 22, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Care Project, PO Box 31358, Augusta, GA 30903, or to the GA War Veterans Nursing Home, 1101 15th Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
