LTC William Burrell Pierce

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, May 16, 2011, Col. William Burrell Pierce, 97, husband of Mrs. Inge S. Pierce.
Col. Pierce was born in Montague County, Texas. He was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1941 and retired after 23 years. He was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action against the enemy in May of 1945. Col. Pierce was a 1954 graduate of Command and General Staff College. He also instructed ROTC at Academy of Richmond County.
Family members in addition to his wife include: nephews; Gordon Pierce, Gary Castleberry; nieces: Barbara Ruffner, Margaret Elvington and caregiver Georgia Williams.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in Westover Memorial Park with Rev. John Pinson officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside.
