Augusta, GA – Margaret Lucille Nobles “Lucie”, 87, left the bonds of this world peacefully Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
Lucie was born Margaret Carter, at home, to William Cary Carter and Mary Jane Passmore Carter in Thonotosassa, Florida. She was one of sixteen siblings most of whom worked in the family orange grove in Florida. Lucie was trained as a Cosmetologist and worked in food service. She was most recently employed at South Columbia Elementary School in the lunchroom. She was happiest cooking for other people and watching them enjoy her talent. She delighted in an emptied casserole dish or pie plate that she had filled with love.
Lucie loved God and His churches, sang in choirs and participated in the first Singing Christmas Tree at Abilene Baptist Church, “all the way at the top!”
Lucie was predeceased by her husband Eddie Nobles. Her only surviving sibling is Myrtice Pearce of Florida.
The memorial service will be Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Enopion Theatre Company, 3814 Commercial Court, Martinez, GA 30907 or Enopion.com.
Friends of Lucie thank Southeast Hospice, Kentwood Extended Care, “Team Lucie,” and Piedmont Hospital for their great care and compassion.
