Mabel Winn Marbach

North Augusta, SC – Mrs. Mabel Winn Marbach, 91, wife of the late James C. Marbach, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014 after an extended illness.

She is survived by her son: James F. “Jake” Marbach (Dale Scott); daughter: Betsy M. Kinne (Milt); brother: Ralph M. Winn, Jr.; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Mabel retired from Bank of America, formerly C & S Bank, where she was the first female teller. After retirement, she enjoyed many years of volunteer service at University Hospital. She also volunteered at the downtown soup kitchen. She gave several gallons of blood through Sheppard Blood Center until her illness kept her from doing so.

She was a devoted member of The Hill Baptist Church where she was a member of Faith Seekers Sunday School Class, the WMU, and the Fellowship Club. Mabel never met a stranger and had numerous lifelong friends.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Donald Townsend and his staff at University Hospital Medical Oncology Associates for the excellent care she received these last 5 years.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Ron Jones and Rev. Fred Gunter officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Millen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Hill Baptist Church, 2165 Kings Way, Augusta, GA 30904 or to a charity of one’s choice.
