Major Michael Dean Raley

Augusta, GA –Major Michael Dean Raley, U.S. Army Retired, 73, husband of Sally J. Raley entered into rest March 2, 2011 at University Hospital.
Major Raley resided in Augusta since his retirement from the Army in 1981.
He received his undergraduate degree from North Georgia College, Dahlonega, GA and a Masters degree from Webster College in St. Louis, MO. He entered service in the U.S. Army in 1959. Major Raley was a decorated combat veteran, serving in both Vietnam and Korea. He earned multiple medals including The Bronze Star, The Army Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal and others.
Family members include his wife of 51 years, Sally J. Raley; daughter Kim Newman (Steve) of Evans; daughter Michelle R. Wright (Bobby) of Augusta; mother Marguerite C. Raley of Avera, GA; brother Victor Raley of Augusta; and grandchildren: Michael, Avery and Samantha Newman, and Raley, Anne Sutton and Scout Wright. He was preceded in death by father, George T. Raley.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Avera, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to either Press On to CURE Childhood Cancer, 117 Perimeter Center West, Suite N 402, Atlanta,GA 30338, the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016, or Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1350 Church Street, Avera, GA 30803.
