Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, January 29, 2012, Mrs. Marcia Jane Sparks Jennings, 73, wife of 50 years to the late Richard Wayne Jennings.
Mrs. Jennings was born in Charleston, WV. She was a graduate from The Academy of Richmond County and was an Alpha Delta Pi at the University of Tennessee where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics and Institutional Management. She later obtained a Masters Degree in Education, School Food Service, at the University of Georgia. Mrs. Jennings was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and was active in the choir, Mitchell Sunday School class, and Mary Martha circle. She was a registered dietician at University Hospital and for the Richmond County Board of Education. Upon retirement, Marcia and Wayne split their time between Augusta and Cashiers, NC.
Marcia was outgoing and enjoyed all of the friendships she cultivated over the years. She loved her family, most of all her 5 grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, coffee and chocolate. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Family members include daughter, Laura Kay Houser and husband Mark of McKinney, TX, son: Randall Wayne Jennings MD of Fort Atkinson, WI, grandchildren: Matthew, Michael and Mallory Houser, Jason and Sylvia Jennings; sister-in-law: Marjorie J. Weathers and husband Clifford of Hayesville, NC.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. John Pinson officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Tracy Atkinson, Tommy Fuller, Chuck Lanier, Carl Douglas, Dr. Jerry Allison, Henry Everitt, Bill Tyler and Dr. Terry Arrington.
Memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 3185 Wheeler Road, Augusta, GA 30909 or to Cashiers United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 162, Cashiers, NC 28717.
